WEEK 4
EDUCATIONAL TASK
Dear Amelia,

Today, I want to teach you about an important part of editing: coloring.

What is Coloring?
Coloring is the process of adjusting the colors, tones, and overall mood of a photo to enhance its look. It can make a picture appear brighter, warmer, or more vibrant. The right coloring creates a consistent style, which is essential for building a professional and recognizable profile.

For today’s task, we’ll use the VSCO app to learn basic coloring techniques.
That's it with educational part! Thank you:)
Why is coloring important?

1. Sets the mood: Coloring creates the emotion of the photo, whether warm, vibrant, or classic.
2. Builds a recognizable style: Consistent coloring makes your profile look more professional and appealing.
3. Enhances details: Proper edits can bring out the details in your photos that might go unnoticed.
4. Corrects lighting issues: Adjusting exposure, contrast, or saturation can fix photos taken in less-than-perfect conditions.
5. Improves storytelling: Every campaign or shoot has a message, and coloring can help reinforce it.
This is just the beginning of your coloring journey. Over time, I’ll show you more advanced techniques to edit your photos so they look as polished as campaigns for brands like Ralph Lauren. For now, we’ll focus on these three simple steps, which will help you create professional and recognizable images.

Learning this skill will make editing faster and easier for you in the future and allow you to maintain a consistent, elegant style for your audience.

We’re aiming for a classic, clean aesthetic, and coloring will help us achieve that.
Let’s start aiming for that timeless Ralph Lauren elegance — it’s all in the edit!

What will we work with?

We’ll start with FILTERS & three main tools in this task:
1. Exposure: This adjusts the brightness of your photo. It’s important to find the right balance so the image doesn’t look too dark or overexposed.
2. Contrast: This enhances the difference between light and dark areas, adding depth and sharpness to your photo.
3. Saturation: This controls the intensity of the colors, from subtle to bold. You’ll learn to make the colors stand out without looking too unnatural.
